Albany Community Action Partnership (ACAP) is the federally-designated Community Action Agency for the County of Albany, NY. Read about our Agency Mission and our Vision and Guiding Principles.

WHAT'S HAPPENING

• Call to learn about about our exciting Certified Nurse Assistant Training. Students are currently being recruited from the Capital Region who meet income qualifications and are seeking a meaningful full-time career in the health care industry.

• Home Heating Assistance Program (HEAP) season has arrived!. Check out the newest income guidelines HERE and get your APPLICATION in early... winter is quickly approaching! Applications will be accepted by staff at ACAP locations only. Mailed applications are not acceptable.

New York State Community Action Association (NYSCAA) works to provide services and advocacy that strengthen the ability of Community Action Agency's, such as ACAP, to improve the quality of life for low-income people throughout New York State. To enhance efforts, NYSCAA has put together the first-ever New York State 2009 Community Action Impact Report showing the progress New York's Community Action Network has made in addressing poverty in our state this past year. Through this report you will learn the impact of Commuity Action and the positive results we have had on families and communities in New York State.

ACAP's Career Pathways Program offers FREE career training and guidance in 6 targeted career paths. The program takes about 6-8 weeks to complete and includes one full year of job retention services. Orientations are held every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month at 333 Sheridan Avenue in Albany, 2nd floor Conference Room at 10 a.m.

We give you the path... you chose the destination!

The 2010 Census will begin soon. Your participation is important. The information you provide helps ACAP and other community organizations maintain their program funding.

Don't forget to be counted!

 


Our agency offers several different services to assist Albany County residents with some fundamental needs, such as:  quality childcare, food for a meal, and heating assistance for a home. ACAP helps fulfill these basic needs in an effort to help break the cycle of poverty and empower our communities within Albany County.

Our Board of Directors is made up of local community representatives of the private business and low-income sector, and members of local government or their appointees.
