“Get a Head Start on Energy Savings”
Approximate Length: 30 seconds
High fuel prices and low temperatures this past winter had many families worried about energy bills. Now is the time to prepare for the coming heating season! If yours is a low income household, the Weatherization Assistance Program may be able to help. A home energy audit will be performed to assess the efficiency and safety of your home.
Services include insulation, caulking and furnace repair and are free to qualifying applicants. Funding for this program is provided by the NYS Division of Housing and Community Renewal.
According to national studies, households that receive weatherization services can expect heating costs to be reduced 20 to 25 percent. At today’s fuel cost, that amounts to about a $400 savings. As fuel costs continue to rise, even greater savings will result.
For Eligibility and Application information contact Albany County Opportunity, Inc at 432-4460 or visit www.albanycap.org. You can also stop by the Weatherization Office at 333 Sheridan Ave in Albany.
