ACAP’s Head Start Program Receives Prestigious Review and Award
Albany, NY- May 10, 2011(amended 2/28/12) - The Albany Community Action Partnership (ACAP) announced today that its Head Start program passed its most recent audit with no findings, only program strengths. At least once every three years, ACAP’s Head Start program, like all other Head Start programs around the country, receives a comprehensive review by the federal agency, the Administration for Children and Families (ACF). The intensive on-site system used by ACF to conduct these reviews is called the Triennial Federal Head Start Monitoring Review.
This review plays a vital role in assuring that Head Start programs are providing the highest quality services to children and families.
“ACAP has now accomplished the highest achievement recognized by the national Office of Head Start,” stated ACAP Executive Director Kathy Cloutier. “I want to publicly congratulate our early childhood education and administrative staff for achieving this status on our most recent federal review with our Gold Star of Excellence Award. We were notified that ACAP’s Head Start review resulted in ‘no deficiencies, no findings and no concerns; only program strengths.’ The passion and commitment of our early childhood education staff to providing the best services to children and families has ensured our success,” concluded Ms. Cloutier.
Head Start is a federally funded comprehensive child development program that promotes the school readiness of economically disadvantaged children by enhancing their social and cognitive development through the provision of educational, health, nutritional, social and other services. The program also engages parents in their children's learning and helps them in making progress toward their educational, literacy and employment goals.
ACAP’s Board of Directors, Head Start Policy Council, management and staff have set their sights on exceeding the ideals and expectations that come with passing this prestigious national review the coming years.
